Finished Garment Measurements:
See chart in images.
This garment is designed to have a lot of design ease. The finished garment measurements may seem large, but the boxy silhouette of the garment is achieved using design ease.
We recommend choosing your size primarily based on your bust measurement.
Alterations in length can be easily made by shortening or lengthening at the hem.
Although it seems as though the top gets shorter as sizes increase, it is the neckline that is slightly lowered to accommodate larger neck circumferences.
It is always recommended to sew a toile/muslin before cutting in to your 'good' fabric.
This pattern is designed for use with a variety of woven fabrics.
To achieve a draped silhouette, we suggest lightweight flowy fabrics such as challis, lawn, lightweight linen, rayon, crepe, or silk.
If you prefer to accentuate the Torrens’ boxiness, use a medium weight fabric such as a medium weight linen, double gauze, or handwoven cotton such as an ikat.
As with most garment sewing, we do not recommend the use of quilting cottons.
For a statement piece, try making this top up in a soft wool coating fabric with draping properties such as a soft melton!
• 1.5m/1.7 yards (150cm/60” wide)
• 2m/2.2 yards (115cm/45” wide)
If using the long-sleeve options, you will require additional fabric.
If you’re using a patterned fabric with a repeat that you’d like to match, you may need more fabric than what is suggested above.
Ensure your fabric is washed and pre-shrunk before cutting.
Lightweight Fusible Interfacing: 0.25m/0.3 yards
