The period undies have a large pad suitable for day wear or overnight and the level of absorbency is completely customizable.
This pattern is suitable for sewing on a home sewing machine and doesn't require a serger/overlocker. The illustrated instructions give directions for sewing the undies using the zig zag stitch function on your machine!
Alternatively, you can use serger/overlocker for the seams, but you will also need to use a zigzag stitch to apply the elastic and finish the gusset.
