The Whitlam Skirt is our answer to the slim fit column skirt but we engineered it for large bodies. It has a very high waist and the silhouette skims the body and gently cups your bottom for a sleek and sophisticated fit without tummy cling! Sewn in a cushy knit, it’s also incredibly comfy and is a fabulous option for travelling as it can easily be dressed up or down. It’s equally at home with combat boots for an edgy punk look as well as heels or flats for an elegant but super comfy outfit for work or going out

Difficulty 1/5

Finished Garment Measurements:

See chart in images.

Selecting your size

Compare your Hip measurement to the Size chart to select your base size. This pattern has negative ease, meaning the finished garment will be smaller than your body measurements. If your waist size is significantly smaller than your hip size, you can blend between sizes. We don’t recommend blending more than 1-2 sizes so you can pull your skirt on.

Alterations in length can be easily made by shortening or lengthening at the hem.

It is always recommended to sew a toile/muslin before cutting in to your 'good' fabric.

We often get asked what height our patterns are drafted for

We don’t note this on our patterns because the body’s proportions can make an overall height very misleading.
For example, you might technically be the “same height” as the draft, but you might have proportionally longer legs. In that case, a pants pattern may be very short for you. We do not subscribe to the notion of “normal bodies” and that is why we provide finished garment measurements instead of drafting height.
For all patterns (not just ours!), we always recommend comparing the finished measurements (and measurements taken from the pattern itself) to your body. Use the shorten/lengthen lines to adjust as necessary.

Suggested Fabric:

This pattern is designed to be sewn with knit fabrics, with stretch both vertically and horizontally (4-way stretch). We suggest cotton/spandex jersey, bamboo/spandex jersey, merino/spandex jersey, tencel/modal/spandex jersey. Performance fabrics will work too, but the sizing might need to be altered (they can be more compressive and therefore you may need a larger size).

The Whitlam Skirt pairs perfectly with many of our top patterns- wear them out, tuck them in, or do the french half tuck into the top of your Whitlam. We love the Atrax Top and the Whitlam Skirt together, but our relaxed Hyde T-Shirt and more fitted Tarlee T-Shirt also pair excellently. Embrace the 90's vibes of the Whitlam by pairing it with a silky bias-cut Nullarbor Cami or a cropped Waikerie Shirt (View A). It goes without saying that we'll be layering our Whitlam Skirts over Dulcie Boxer Briefs, for chub-rub free skirt wearing.

These files need to be opened and saved on desktop or laptop computers — you won't be able to open them on your smart phone.
